Magazine Cover Design

Brief

To design a unique masthead and three characters for a fictitious adversary-type game. Then select the most suitable one for a magazine cover. The final figures are put into a context (scene) to complete the cover art.

Description

When I was looking for inspiration for this project, I remembered my favourite game, Oblivion. I loved the vibrant colours and used that for the background which I created with red coloured pencil and water colour. I then altered the colours in Adobe Photoshop to make them more intense.

The character, Damon is my own creation. I wanted Damon to stand out so I rendered him in a darker colour palette. I designed numerous options for the masthead but chose the final design as it had the most impact. I traced the design from my drawing and Adobe Illustrator was used to refine the logo. The ‘T’ in Gamit was inspired by the character holding a sword.
